The Musicals: Sailor Stars Kaiteiban
Introduction
Sailor Stars Kaiteiban is the revision of the 1996 Summer Special Musical, Sailor Stars. Like its original version, it is loosely based on the manga and anime versions of the story. However, its ending differs substantially from both, as the musical was performed prior to the anime and manga's conclusions. It also features new characters as well as ones only appearing in the Sailor Stars manga.
Sailor Stars Kaiteiban was the 1997 Winter Special Musical, and ran from 12/28/1996 through 1/12/1997. It was performed in two different theatres, Kouseinenkin Kaikanchuu Hall in Osaka, as well as the staple Sunshine Theatre in Tokyo.
Special Events
A special event, called the 1996 Winter Musical Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Sailor Stars Super Live Show occurred before the Sailor Stars Kaiteiban. No other special events were held.
Video Releases
Sailor Stars Kaiteiban was filmed on January 7, 1997. The VHS's release date is unknown and that version is now out of print. The footage was remastered and released on DVD on September 24, 2004. This musical is also included in the second Special Musical Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon Memorial DVD Box Anza Ooyama Moon. No other omake, fan-kan, or guide videos were released.
Music Releases
The original soundtrack, Memorial Album of The Musical 4, was released on August 1, 1996 but is now out of print. This was actually a recording for the first version of the Sailor Stars musical, so Solar Miracle Make Up, which was added to the revision, was not included on this CD. Songs from this musical can be found on the following musical albums: Theme Songs 1993-1999, Fan ga Erabu - Best Songs Collection, Love Ballad Edition, and Dark Side Edition Best Songs - Yami kara no Melody.

- This musical's ending differs from any other telling of the story, as Galaxia is not redeemed at its conclusion.
- Solar Miracle Make Up was added to this musical's song list and acted as the final battle theme.
