The Musicals: Shin Kaguya Shima Densetsu
Introduction
Shin Kaguya Shima Densetsu translates to New Legend of Kaguya Island. It was the 2004 Summer Special musical and ran intermittently from July 20, 2004 to September 5, 2004. It was performed in nine seperate theatres, including Toda Shi Bunka Kaikan in Saitama, Miyagiken Tami Kaikan in Sandai, Osaka Kouseinenkin Kaikan Geijutsu Hall in Osaka, Shin Kobe Oriental Theatre in Kobe, Okayama Shimin Kaikan in Okayama, Fukuoka Shimin Kaikan in Fukuoka, Aichi Kousinenkin Kaikan in Aichi, Yokohama Shi Shimin Bunka Kaikan Kannai Hall in Yokohama,and Sunshine Theatre in Tokyo for a total of 38 performances. This musical, as suggested by its title, is a new version of the Kaguya Island story, with major plot and character changes. It focuses more on the pirate group than in the previous version and several villains were cut as well.
Video Releases
Shin Kaguya Shima Densetsu was filmed on August 24, 2004. The VHS version was released on DVD 12/23/2004 as was the DVD release. One of the Fan Kansha events held was recorded and sold on VHS at performances of the musical. A Pre-Order Omake VHS was also available.
Music Releases
The soundtrack for this musical, Memorial Album of the Musical 13, was released on July 21, 2004. Songs from this musical were also included on Eternal Edition 4: Marinamoon Special Edition.
