Introduction

Kaguya Shim Densetsu translates to The Legend of Kaguya Island. This musical falls within the officially recognized "second stage" of the musicals as it starts Fumina Hara as Sailor Moon. This musical was revolutionary as an original storyline was created for it. Unlike other musicals from the past, which had familiar characters with sometimes slightly different situations, this musical featured a totally original new line-up of villains and their backstory. This was the 1999 Spring Musical Special, and it ran from March 19 to March 31, 1999.

Video Releases

The performance of Kaguya Shima Densetsu that is available for viewing was filmed on March 30, 1999. The VHS's release date is unknown, and it is now out of print. A DVD version of this musical was released on February 24, 2005. The DVD of this musical was also included in the Special Musical Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon Memorial DVD Box Fumina Hara Moon, released on January 28, 2005. In addition to the performance itself, a Spring Digest video was available and there was no Fan-Kansha event held, so there is no accompanying video.
