Introduction

Gaiden Dark Kingdom Fukkatsu Hen translates to An Alternate Legend: The Dark Kingdom Revival Story. It was the debut Sera Myu production, and was consequently the first musical to star Anza Ooyama as Sailor Moon, heralding the beginning of the official "first stage" of the musicals. This musical is a retelling of the original story seen in the first series of the Sailor Moon anime and manga. This musical was the 1993 Summer Special, and ran from August 11, 1993 to August 29th, 1993.

Video Releases

Gaiden Dark Kingdom Fukkatsu Hen's date of filming is unknown as is its VHS release date. The VHS is now out of print but a remastered DVD version was released on February 25, 2004. This musical is also included in the first Special Musical Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon Memorial DVD Box Anza Ooyama Moon. No other omake, fan-kan, or guide videos were released.

Music Releases

The original soundtrack, Memorial Album of The Musical, was released on August 21, 1993 but is now out of print. A single featuring La Soldier and Sailor War was released on August 1, 1993, and it too is out of print. Songs from this musical can be found on the following musical albums: Ongaku Shuu - Best Soundtrack, Theme Songs 1993-1999, Fan ga Erabu - Best Songs Collection, Love Ballad Edition, and Dark Side Edition Best Songs - Yami kara no Melody.

Appearances

This musical was mentioned in at least one Sailor Moon anime-related book, that being the Anime Album for Sailor Moon R. The article was titled Ooru Zatto Myuujikaru '93 or All That Musical '93. It was featured on pages 164-167 in black and white and included a special cast listing of the Sailor Team, an illustrated summary of the musical by scene, a text-only staff and cast listing, a performance record, and a blurb about the musical's video release.
