Item Information: Moon Stick (Anime)
Sailor Moon receives the Moon Stick in episode 25, Koisuru kairiki shoujo, Jupiter-chan (The Love-Sick Girl, Jupiter-chan), from Luna. It is much more powerful than Sailor Moon’s Moon Tiara, which had been used as her only weapon up to this point, and has the ability to purify and/or eradicate evil. The Moon Stick is an artifact from the Silver Millennium that originally belonged to Queen Serenity, with which she sealed the Dark Kingdom in her time. When Queen Serenity used the stick, she would say, "Moon Healing Escalation," just as Sailor Moon does in the present.
The Moon Stick has the ability to detect when a Nijizuishou (Rainbow Crystal) carrier is near. The stick signifies its presence by beeping, and the jewels below the crescent moon flash. As the carrier gets closer, the beeping and flashing quickens.
When Usagi initially receives the Moon Stick, her right as the owner is put under much scrutiny. This is because of her immaturity and irresponsibility in handling the artifact, since she had a tendency to leave it at home or use it disrepectfully, such as using it as a hammer to smash open a piggy bank. In Episode 28, the Moon Stick goes flying out of her bag without Usagi even noticing, but Luna is there to retrieve the precious item.
In Episode 43, as a plot to fool and confuse the Dark Kingdom,the Sailor Team act as if they are attempting to kick Sailor Moon out of the team, and wanting the Moon Stick and the Ginzuishou's for themselves. During this scheme, Sailor Moon entrusts the Moon Stick to Sailor Mars, who keeps it safe until returning it to Sailor Moon. This is the only time the item is handled by anyone other than Sailor Moon or Luna (in the present).
After it was revealed that Usagi/Sailor Moon’s other alter identity is the Moon Princess and the Ginzuishou appears, the crystal is placed upon the Moon Stick and increases its power exponentially, as it was the original vessle used to harness the crystal's power. Sailor Moon still says the same phrase as before to utilize this powered-up version.
In Episode 46, Usagi no Omoi wa Eien ni! Atarashiki Tensei (Usagi’s Feelings are Eternal! A New Reincarnation), the Moon Stick is lost in the final battle with Queen Beryl/Metaria upon Princess Serenity’s victory over her opponent. It is never recovered.
