Item Information: Light Transformation Pen (Anime)
The Light na Hensou (Light Disguise) Pen is given to Usagi by Luna in episode 3, Nazono nemuri byou, mamore otome no koisuru kokoro (Mysterious Sleeping Disease, Protect the Young Girl's Loving Heart). It has the ability to transform Usagi into any disguise she wants. To use the pen, she exclaims “Moon Power!” then states what she wants to be transformed into followed by “ni nare!” which means transform or become. The Hensou Pen is possibly a relic from the Silver Millennium, because it is one of the items given to Usagi by Luna, and all items from Luna originated from that time. It can also be used by others besides for Sailor Moon, as demonstrated by Minako using it in Sailor Moon S, though what qualifications are needed is unknown.
The pen is primarily used in the first series, but makes an appearance in Sailor Moon R episode 52, Nerawareta enji! Venus dai katsuyaku (Kindergarteners Attacked! Venus' Great Performance), as well as in S episode 102, Ubawareta pure na kokoro! Usagi zettai zetsumei (Stolen Pure Heart! Usagi's Absolute Death), when Minako uses it to disguise herself as Sailor Moon to confuse Kaolinite.
The pen is pink with gold accents and a large red crystal on top. It is one of the few items that is disguised as an everday object. Despite its usefulness, the pen is used less and less frequently as the series progresses, and is never used or mentioned after Sailor Moon S.
A Beautiful Newscaster (episode 03), Cool Grown-Up Musician (episode 06), Doctor Who Works at a University Hospital (episode 08), Cool Bus Attendant (episode 10), Beautiful Camera Woman (episode 12), Beautiful Bride (episode 16), Pretty Princess (episode 22), Fortune Teller (episode 30), Cute Sailor (episode 42), and a Sweet and Stylish Kindergarten Teacher (episode 52). Minako also used the pen to disguise herself as Sailor Moon (episode 102).
