Book Overview
This book is the third of eight Anime Albums that Kodansha would release for Sailor Moon. These books are amazing resources of information that is not found anywhere else. They cover the episodes and characters of each season as well as offer supplemental information like character designs and cast and crew interviews. There were none released for SuperS or Sailor Stars, unfortunately.

Book Contents
This album was originally released on January 15th, 1995, but the second printing was released on June 11th, 2001. To the best of our knowledge, this is the only of the Sailor Moon anime albums to be re-released. The front of the double-sided poster in this book is an illustration of Neo Queen Serenity, King Endymion, Chibi-Usa, and the four Sailor Soldiers on a grassy hill overlooking Crystal Tokyo. The back of the poster is a full group shot of the entire Black Moon Clan, sans Black Lady.

The R album covers all 43 episodes of the anime, with synopses and stills for each episode. There is a pair of two page spreads for both openings. There is also one page dedicated to the series' eye catch and ending animation. This is the first album to have character pages for the villains, and each group has one. Al and En share two pages, and the Black Moon Clan takes up nine pages, including two devoted to Black Lady alone. In addition to these, there are two page character spreads for Chibi-usa and Sailor Pluto. And finally, there are one-two page spreads about Tuxedo Mask and the Sailor Team, Sailor Moon's new transformation and attack, and the four guardians' new powers. The final color page in the book is a "Sailor Moon Illustrations Gallery," with two illustrations done in Naoko Takeuchi's style, but with cel-style shading. These illustrations were not drawn by Takeuchi herself, but were drawn by Michitaka Kikuchi and Narumi Kakinouchi. There is a short bio on and commentary from each artist. These illustrations would later appear in the Materials Collection manga art book.

The black and white pages start out with the first encyclopedia to appear in the anime albums. Next come the character designs for the Makaiju story arc, four pages on Sailor Moon R merchandise, and then the character designs for the Chibi-usa arc. There are two pages with commentary from Mitsuishi Kotono and Araki Kae, followed by several pages of submitted fanart, then two pages with the staff list for each episode. The last four pages are about the musical Gaiden Dark Kingdom Fukkatsu Hen. This is the only anime album to feature the musicals.
